EXCHANGE PROPERTY BETWEEN COUNTY AND THE SOUTH FLORIDA

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering a resolution to approve an exchange agreement between Miami-Dade County and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). The county will convey 3.889 acres of county-owned land, bounded by SW 26 Street, SW 28 Street, SW 173 Avenue, and SW 172 Court, to SFWMD. In exchange, the county will receive five fee simple parcels from SFWMD, totaling 1.318 acres, located along the west right-of-way of SW 157th Avenue between SW 42nd Street and SW 26th Street. This exchange is necessary for county roadway improvements to SW 157th Avenue. Both parties have elected not to reserve mineral rights. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation. The total project cost for the roadway improvements is estimated at $26,593,000, funded by Mobility Impact Fees, General Fund Operations, and a Florida Department of Environmental Protection grant.
