Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · ordinance

This ordinance changes the municipal boundaries of the City of Florida City, Florida, to annex unincorporated land referred to as Area J. The annexation includes the West 1/2 of Section 23 and the East 1/2 of the Southeast 1/4 of Section 22, both in Township 57 South, Range 38 East. Key conditions for the annexation include the County retaining utility tax revenues and jurisdiction over residential garbage and refuse collection/disposal, unless delegated via interlocal agreement. The County will also retain jurisdiction over certain restrictive covenants and areas/facilities of countywide significance, including a wellfield protection area, Rock Pit #39 Preserve, and a natural forest community. The City is required to pay $1,709.71 for outstanding stormwater bond debt service. The ordinance is contingent upon the execution of an interlocal agreement between the City and the County.
