Miami-Dade County Commissioners approved the bifurcation of the Jackson Medical Towers Redevelopment Lease Agreement for the second phase of development. This involves workforce and affordable housing on county-owned land. The project will refurbish existing Jackson Medical Towers structures into 358 residential units and approximately 676 parking spaces. Key changes include a modified income mix for residential units (minimum 20% workforce housing, maximum 30% unrestricted), elimination of a planned hotel tower, and a capitalized lease payment estimated at $41,331,973. Construction is accelerated for completion by December 2029. The agreement also contemplates a vocational high school and an option for the Public Health Trust to lease back parking spaces. The Public Health Trust is authorized to administer the lease and execute necessary documents.
