HURRICANE RECOVERY SERVICES MOU

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is seeking approval for a standard Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with municipalities for hurricane-related debris removal, staging, reduction, long-range hauling, and monitoring services. The Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) has pre-established, competitively bid emergency contracts for these services. The MOU allows DSWM to include other requesting municipalities in its Debris Removal Program for hurricane cleanup and recovery. Municipalities will compensate the County for services rendered. The item was forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation by the Intergovernmental and Economic Impact Committee. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to execute the MOU and manage its provisions. This initiative follows a similar MOU executed after Hurricane Irma in 2017 for North Bay Village, City of South Miami, and Town of Medley.
