Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is proceeding with improvements to SW 268 Street, specifically from US-1 to SW 139 Avenue. This project involves road widening, beautification, and right-of-way improvements, including reconstruction, milling and resurfacing, new drainage, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, signalization, lighting, bicycle facilities, and Water and Sewer Department utility upgrades. The County is authorizing the acquisition of Parcel 1, designated as a public necessity for these improvements. The acquisition process includes negotiation, donation, right-of-way designation, purchase based on higher of appraisal or tax assessed value, and potentially eminent domain. An incentive offer up to 15 percent over the appraised or tax assessed value is also authorized. The estimated cost for design, construction, CEI, and right-of-way acquisition is $12,739,000, funded by the FY25-26 Adopted Budget and Multi-Year Capital Plan for road widening. Annual maintenance and operational costs are estimated at $5,764.99. The Transportation and Public Works Department is overseeing the project.
