LANDFILL GAS CONVERSION

Miami-Dade County Commissioners are directing the County Mayor or designee to negotiate a non-competitive, revenue-generating contract for a landfill gas conversion facility at the South Dade Landfill site. This directive is subject to a waiver of formal bid procedures. If the waiver is not filed, a report explaining why is due by September 1, 2026. Previously, all proposals for a landfill gas conversion project at both South Dade and North Dade Landfills were rejected as non-responsive. The North Dade Landfill site was deemed not viable. The estimated cost for a developer to design and build each facility was over $30,000,000. The county intends to resolicit for the South Dade Landfill site only and will seek market feedback.
