LAP AGREEMENTS FOR SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is set to ratify two Local Agency Program (LAP) Agreements with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) totaling $268,753 for Safe Routes to School (SRTS) design improvements. The agreements, FM Nos. 447597-1-38-01 and 447600-1-38-01, were executed on 10/10/2025. The first agreement, valued at $96,229, is for North Miami Beach Senior High School in Commission District 4. The second agreement, valued at $172,524, is for Homestead Middle School in Commission District 8. The County will provide upfront funding from its General Fund, which will be reimbursed by FDOT. The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) will oversee the design phase. The SRTS program aims to improve safety for children walking or bicycling to school. Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) submitted applications, and DTPW partnered with them as MDCPS is not LAP-certified. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to execute necessary contracts, agreements, and amendments. The item is on the consent agenda for 7/21/2026.
