PELICAN HARBOR SEABIRD STATION

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering a resolution to waive competitive bidding procedures to approve a Programming Partnership Operating and Management Agreement between Miami-Dade County and Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, Inc. This agreement allows Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, Inc., a not-for-profit entity, to continue operating the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station for the care of sick and injured seabirds. The term of the agreement extends through April 1, 2027, with yearly fees to the County of $300.00. The Board is asked to authorize the County Mayor or designee to execute the agreement. The facility is located at Pelican Harbor Marina, 1279 NE 79 Street Causeway, Miami, Florida 33138. The Seabird Station has been operating at this location since 1990 and plans to relocate to a new facility on or before April 1, 2027. The waiver of competitive bidding is recommended to ensure uninterrupted care for the animals served by the station. The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee forwarded this item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation on June 9, 2026. The Board of County Commissioners agenda date is July 21, 2026.
