Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering the approval of Contract No. EVN0013501 for Quicklime. The contract is recommended for award to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. for a five-year term with a total amount of $124,080,000.00. This contract is for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) to procure approximately 42,000 tons of quicklime annually, delivered by truck and railcar, for use in water treatment operations at the John E. Preston, Hialeah, and Alexander Orr regional water treatment plants. The quicklime must meet stringent quality and regulatory requirements, including NSF/ANSI Standard 60 certification for drinking water treatment chemicals. The contract replaces Contract No. FB-01772. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation on June 10, 2026. The agenda date for the BCC is July 21, 2026.
