Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is approving the award of Contract No. EVN0013501, "QUICKLIME," to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. for $124,080,000.00 for a five-year term. This contract is for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) to purchase quicklime for water treatment operations at three regional water treatment plants. The quicklime is delivered in bulk by truck and railcar and is essential for water softening, pH adjustment, and alkalinity control. The contract replaces a previous contract and reflects updated unit pricing due to current market conditions. The award was made to the lowest priced responsive and responsible bidder after a competitive solicitation process. No certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) firms were able to meet the solicitation requirements. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the Board with a favorable recommendation.
