Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is approving the award of Contract No. EVN0013501, "QUICKLIME", to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. for a five-year term. The contract is valued at $124,080,000.00 and is for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) to purchase quicklime for water treatment operations at three regional water treatment plants. The quicklime will be delivered in bulk by truck and railcar. The contract aims to ensure a reliable supply of quicklime, approximately 42,000 tons annually, to maintain continuous treatment operations, protect public health, and support regulatory compliance. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the Board with a favorable recommendation. The solicitation process resulted in two bids, and Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. No SBE firms were able to meet the solicitation requirements.
