Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is approving the award of Contract No. EVN0013501, "QUICKLIME", to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. for $124,080,000.00 for a five-year term. This contract is for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) to purchase quicklime, a critical chemical used in water treatment operations at three regional water treatment plants. The quicklime will be delivered in bulk by truck and railcar. The contract aims to ensure a reliable supply of quicklime, approximately 42,000 tons annually, to support continuous treatment operations, protect public health, and maintain regulatory compliance. The contract replaces Contract No. FB-01772. An Invitation to Bid was issued on March 9, 2026, and two bids were received. Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. was the lowest priced responsive and responsible bidder. No certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) firms were able to meet the solicitation requirements. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the Board with a favorable recommendation.
