RESOLUTION CALLING A COUNTYWIDE SPECIAL ELECTION
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to vote on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment, sponsored by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, would increase the residency requirement for candidates running for County Commissioner to at least 365 days within their district prior to the start of the qualifying period, up from the current six months. The Charter Review Task Force recommended this change with a vote of ten in favor and none against. The resolution was forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation as corrected, addressing a scrivener's error in a previous resolution reference. The election will be held in conjunction with the general election.
