RESOLUTION CALLING A COUNTYWIDE SPECIAL ELECTION

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to vote on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment, sponsored by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, would increase the residency requirement for candidates running for County Commissioner from six months to 365 days (one year) prior to the start of the qualifying period. The Charter Review Task Force recommended this change with a vote of ten in favor and none against. The resolution was forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners with a favorable recommendation after a minor scrivener's error correction (Resolution No. R-255-24 changed to R-225-24).
