RESOLUTION CALLING A COUNTYWIDE SPECIAL ELECTION
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to vote on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment would increase the residency requirement for candidates running for County Commissioner to 365 days within their district prior to the start of the qualifying period, up from the current six months. The resolution was sponsored by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins. The Policy Council forwarded the resolution to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation as corrected, addressing a scrivener's error. The Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to consider this on July 21, 2026.
