Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to vote on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment would create an independent, five-member Salary Commission to determine the compensation for the Board of County Commissioners. This follows a recommendation from the Charter Review Task Force, which studied commissioner salaries. The resolution was sponsored by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins. The Policy Council forwarded the resolution to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation as corrected, and the BCC is scheduled to consider it on July 21, 2026. The election will be held in conjunction with the general election.
