SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain residential projects. The program, to be implemented by the County Mayor or designee, will allow for same-day review and approval of eligible permit applications, including those for fences (under 6 feet), gates, stairs, railings, driveways, pavers, trusses, pools, windows, doors, shutters, skylights, garage doors, roofing/re-roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior/partial demolition, prefabricated sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs. Projects requiring structural review, those in historic districts, with open code enforcement cases, or to legalize violations are not eligible. Applicants must submit documents electronically prior to a meeting. The County Mayor will provide semi-annual reports on the program's performance. If delays are due to the reviewing department, permit fees may be reduced by 10 percent per business day. The ordinance was forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation with committee amendments following a public hearing.
