SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain minor residential projects. The program requires the County Mayor or designee to develop and implement it, with reports every six months. Eligible projects include fences up to six feet, gates, stairs, driveways, pools, windows, doors, roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior demolition, sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and MEP repairs. Projects requiring structural review, in historic districts, with open code cases, or to legalize violations are not eligible. Applicants must submit documents electronically prior to a meeting for same-day review and potential approval. If delays are due to the reviewing department, permit fees may be reduced by 10% per business day. The ordinance was introduced on 7/14/2026 and is scheduled for final action on 7/21/2026.
