SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain minor residential projects. The program requires the County Mayor or designee to develop and implement it, with reports every six months. Eligible projects include fences (under 6 feet), gates, stairs, railings, driveways, pavers, trusses, pools, windows, doors, shutters, skylights, garage doors, roofing/re-roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior/partial demolition, prefabricated sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repair permits. Projects requiring structural review, in historic districts, with open code enforcement cases, or to legalize existing violations are not eligible. Applicants must submit documents electronically before a meeting for same-day review and potential approval. If delays are due to the reviewing department, permit fees will be reduced by 10% per business day.
