SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain minor residential projects. The program aims to streamline the permit application process for homeowners. Eligible projects include fences up to six feet, gates, stairs, railings, driveways, pavers, trusses, pools, windows, doors, shutters, skylights, garage doors, roofing/re-roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior/partial demolition, prefabricated sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repair permits. Projects requiring structural review, located in historic districts, with open code enforcement cases, or to legalize existing violations are not eligible. Applicants must submit documents electronically prior to a meeting for same-day review and potential approval. The County Mayor or designee will report on the program's progress every six months. If delays are due to the reviewing department, permit fees may be reduced by 10% per business day.
