Miami-Dade County is approving an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) for the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact. This agreement spans fiscal years 2027-2029, with Miami-Dade County contributing $285,000 total ($95,000 annually) over three years. Broward County will retain and supervise the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) on behalf of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties. Monroe County will contribute $30,000 total ($10,000 annually). The ISC provides services related to the Compact. The agreement was forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation by the Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee on 6/9/2026. The BCC is scheduled to take action on 7/21/2026. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to execute the ILA, approve extensions, and select Miami-Dade representatives to the Compact Leadership Committee. The Chief Resilience Officer and Director of the Department of Environmental Resources Management, Loren Parra, will monitor the agreement.
