EXCHANGE PROPERTY BETWEEN COUNTY AND THE SOUTH FLORIDA

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering a resolution to approve an exchange agreement between the County and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). The County will convey 3.889 acres of land, bounded by SW 26 Street, SW 28 Street, SW 173 Avenue, and SW 172 Court, to SFWMD. In return, the County will receive five parcels totaling 1.318 acres from SFWMD, identified as Parcels 2, 5, 7, 8, and 11. These SFWMD parcels are required for County roadway improvements to SW 157th Avenue. Both parties have elected not to reserve mineral rights. The appraised value of both the County's land and the SFWMD's land is $175,000.00. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee forwarded this item to the Board of County Commissioners with a favorable recommendation. The project is part of a larger roadway widening and improvement project for SW 157th Avenue, estimated to cost $26,593,000 for design, construction, and right-of-way acquisition, with funding from impact fees, general funds, and a state grant. The SFWMD property is located along the west right-of-way line of SW 157th Avenue between SW 42nd Street and SW 26th Street.
