QUICKLIME

Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee · 2026-06-10 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering the approval of Contract No. EVN0013501, "QUICKLIME," for the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD). The contract is recommended for award to Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc. for a five-year term, with a total amount of $124,080,000.00. This contract will ensure a continuous supply of quicklime, a critical chemical used in water treatment for softening, pH adjustment, and alkalinity control at three regional water treatment plants. The quicklime must meet stringent quality and regulatory requirements, including NSF/ANSI Standard 60 certification for drinking water treatment chemicals. The contract replaces Contract No. FB-01772. The solicitation process involved an Invitation to Bid (ITB) issued on March 9, 2026, with two bids received by March 31, 2026. Only two vendors in South Florida were identified as capable of supplying the required chemical, and no certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) firms met the solicitation requirements. The proposed contract reflects updated unit prices compared to the current contract due to market conditions. Public comment is not stated in this document.
