Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering a resolution to approve a license agreement between Miami-Dade County and the City of Homestead. The agreement allows the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department to operate a spay/neuter mobile unit in the parking lot of Harris Field Park. The license fee is $1.00 per year, and all operational costs are absorbed within the department's existing budget. The agreement has a term of one year with two additional one-year renewal options. This initiative aims to restart crucial spay/neuter services to reduce unwanted litters and shelter intake. The Intergovernmental and Economic Impact Committee forwarded the resolution to the Board of County Commissioners with a favorable recommendation. The City of Homestead has already adopted the agreement via Resolution No. R2026-05-98.
