2026 CHARTER AMENDMENT (CONSTITUTIONAL OFFICERS)
Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is calling a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to be held in conjunction with the general election. The purpose is to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendments address the reestablishment of elected County Constitutional Offices (Sheriff, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, and Supervisor of Elections), clarify duties of the Clerk and County regarding finance and budget, and require County employees to take a leave of absence when running for an elected Constitutional Office. The Charter Review Task Force recommended these changes. The resolution was amended and is pending BCC assignment. The Policy Council amended the item on 7/13/2026. Scrivener's errors were corrected on 7/9/2026. The County Attorney assigned the item on 6/26/2026.
