CHARTER AMENDMENT, ARTICLE 7 ADVERTISING

Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is calling a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment would expand allowable advertising within county parks, aiming to generate revenue for the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department without raising taxes. Currently, advertising is limited to sponsorships of events or facilities, provided it is compatible with the park and does not impair public use or damage the park. The amendment seeks to remove the sponsorship requirement, allowing for more revenue-generating advertising, with all generated revenue to be used exclusively in the park where it occurs. This measure requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present for placement on the ballot. The Policy Council amended this item on July 13, 2026.
