CHARTER AMENDMENT, ARTICLE 7 ADVERTISING
Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is calling a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter, Article 7, to expand allowable advertising within parks. Currently, advertising is limited to sponsorships of events or facilities, provided it is compatible with the park and does not impair public use or damage the park. The proposed amendment aims to remove the sponsorship requirement, potentially generating revenue for park operations without raising taxes. Any revenue generated would be exclusively for the park where the advertising occurs. The resolution requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present for placement on the ballot, and the amendment itself will be decided by a majority of electors voting. The Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department faces funding challenges and hopes this change will help alleviate budgetary constraints.
