CHARTER AMENDMENT, ARTICLE 7 ADVERTISING

Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to vote on amending the Home Rule Charter, Article 7, to expand allowable advertising within parks. Currently, advertising is limited to sponsorships of events or facilities compatible with the park. The proposed amendment aims to allow for more revenue-generating advertising, with all generated revenue to be used exclusively for the park where the advertising occurs. This initiative is driven by the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department's challenges in generating revenue to support operations and fund new projects. The resolution requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present for placement on the ballot, and a majority of electors voting to pass the amendment. The specific parks affected are those owned by the County and municipal parks, excluding those in Coral Gables, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Miami, Sweetwater, and West Miami.
