CHARTER AMENDMENT, ARTICLE 7 ADVERTISING

Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is calling a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter, Article 7, to expand allowable advertising within parks. Currently, advertising is limited to sponsorships of events or facilities compatible with the park. The proposed amendment aims to allow more revenue-generating advertising, with all generated revenue to be used exclusively for the park where the advertising occurs. This initiative is driven by the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department's need for funding. The resolution requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present for placement on the ballot, and the election itself requires a majority vote of electors to pass. The matter was introduced on 7/7/2026 and amended on 7/13/2026.
