CHARTER AMENDMENT, ARTICLE 7 ADVERTISING
Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution
Miami-Dade County is holding a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter. The proposed amendment would expand allowable advertising within county parks. Currently, advertising is limited to sponsorship of events or facilities, provided it is compatible with the park and does not unreasonably impair public use or damage the park. The amendment seeks to remove the sponsorship requirement, potentially generating revenue for the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department (PROS) without raising taxes. Any revenue generated would be exclusively for the park where the advertising occurs. This measure requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present to be placed on the ballot and a majority of voters to pass.
