LANDFILL GAS CONVERSION
Policy Council · 2026-07-13 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) rejected all proposals for the Landfill Gas Conversion Project, RFP No. EVN0019329, for the Department of Solid Waste Management. All five proposals received were deemed non-responsive by the County Attorney's Office. The project aimed to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) systems at the South Dade Landfill (23707 SW 97th Avenue, Homestead, FL) and North Dade Landfill (21500 NW 47th Avenue, Miami, FL). The North Dade Landfill site was found to be not viable. A new solicitation is anticipated, likely focusing only on the South Dade Landfill, with an estimated development cost over $30,000,000 per facility. The County plans to seek market feedback before re-soliciting. Several vendors, including Apex One Home Inspections Corp., Mobius Fuels, LLC, Nopetro Energy, Sagepoint Energy Landfill Holdco, and Waga Energy, Inc., submitted proposals.
