SAME DAY PERMIT PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County is creating a Same-Day Permitting Program for certain minor residential projects. This program, established by Ordinance 261261, aims to expedite the permit process for projects like fences (under 6 feet), gates, stairs, driveways, pools, windows, doors, roofing, kitchen/bathroom remodels, interior demolition, prefabricated sheds, minor non-structural repairs, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs. Projects requiring structural review, those in historic districts, with open code enforcement cases, or to legalize violations are excluded. Applicants must submit documents electronically. The County Mayor or designee will implement the program and provide six-month reports on its effectiveness. Fees will be refunded if delays are due to the reviewing department. The ordinance was introduced on 7/7/2026 and amended on 7/13/2026.
