Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee · 2026-06-09 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering a resolution to waive competitive bidding procedures to approve a Programming Partnership Operating and Management Agreement between Miami-Dade County and Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, Inc. This agreement will allow Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, Inc. to continue operating the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station for the care of sick and injured seabirds until April 1, 2027. The station is located at Pelican Harbor Marina and will relocate to a new facility on or before April 1, 2027. The agreement requires a two-thirds vote for approval. Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, Inc. has been operating at this location since 1990 and cares for approximately 2,700 native wildlife patients annually. The county will incur minimal fiscal impact, primarily for utilities, while Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, Inc. will pay annual fees of $300.00. The Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department will manage the agreement. The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee forwarded this item to the Board with a favorable recommendation.
