PILOT PROGRAM - SALE OF FATS, OILS, AND GREASE (FOG)

Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee · 2026-06-09 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is exploring a pilot program for the sale of Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) for reuse as biofuel or other purposes. The program aims to facilitate FOG sales by businesses, provide technical assistance, and collect data for regulatory reform. The County Mayor or designee is directed to prepare the pilot program for Board review and approval, including any necessary amendments to FOG regulations, with input from the EPA and FDEP. The initiative stems from previous efforts to comply with the Federal Clean Water Act and revise the Grease Trap Ordinance and FOG Control Program, which led to Ordinance No. 18-22. The goal is to explore options for businesses to finance FOG-related investments and potentially reduce disposal costs.
