Miami-Dade County is exploring a pilot program for the sale of Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) for reuse as biofuel or other purposes. The program aims to facilitate FOG sales by businesses, provide technical assistance, and collect data for regulatory reform. The County Mayor or designee is directed to prepare the pilot program proposal and a report, including any necessary amendments to FOG regulations, for Board review and approval. This initiative stems from previous efforts to comply with the Federal Clean Water Act and manage sewer overflows, including amendments to the Grease Trap Ordinance and FOG Control Program. The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee forwarded this matter to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) with a favorable recommendation.
