MAJOR SERVICE CHANGES TO THE BUS NETWORK

Transportation Cmte · 2026-04-14 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) to implement major service changes to the bus network on or after July 20, 2026. These changes affect four routes (8, 24, 37, and 132) across multiple county commission districts, aiming to enhance regional transit connections, extend service to new areas, reduce frequency on underutilized routes, and discontinue low-productivity services. The changes are projected to result in a net fiscal savings of approximately $2.01 million annually. Public feedback was gathered through community meetings and in-field outreach, with some changes reflecting community input. Route 132 will be discontinued due to low ridership. Route 8 and 24 will be rerouted and extended west of SW 107 Ave to Tamiami Station Park-and-Ride, including new weekend service for Route 24. Route 37 will see reduced frequency between Airport Station and Douglas Rd Station due to low ridership. A public hearing was held, and no one spoke against the proposed changes. The Transportation Committee forwarded the resolution with a favorable recommendation.
