Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Miami for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has a five-year term with two five-year renewal options, is funded by the City of North Miami using its share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds, resulting in no cost to Miami-Dade County. The service aims to enhance local mobility, complement existing DTPW bus routes, and increase public transit usage. The service began in July 2023, operated by Freebee using six Tesla vehicles (four Model X, two Model Y), with specific operating hours. The North Miami City Council authorized the agreement in September 2024. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation.
