ILA FOR PROVISION OF ON-DEMAND SERVICES WITH NORTH MIAMI

Transportation Cmte · 2026-07-14 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Miami for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has a five-year term with two five-year renewal options, aims to enhance local mobility and complement existing bus routes. The City of North Miami will cover all program costs using its share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds, resulting in no fiscal impact to Miami-Dade County. The service, which began in July 2023 and is operated by Freebee using four Tesla Model X and two Tesla Model Y vehicles, provides stop-to-stop service within and around North Miami, including connections to key destinations, with a maximum trip length of five miles. Hours of operation vary by day. The North Miami City Council authorized the agreement in September 2024. The agreement was retroactively effective to February 5, 2026, the date it was executed by the City.
