Miami-Dade County is considering an Interlocal Agreement with the City of North Miami for on-demand transportation services. The agreement, which has been in effect since February 5, 2026, and was executed by the City in September 2024, is for a five-year term with two five-year renewal options. The City will fund the program using its share of Charter County Transportation Surtax proceeds, resulting in no cost to Miami-Dade County. The service, which began in July 2023 and is operated by Freebee using six Tesla vehicles, aims to enhance local mobility by providing stop-to-stop service within and around North Miami, including connections to key destinations, with a maximum trip length of five miles. The agreement is currently in committee, with an agenda date of September 1, 2026.
