MOU WITH FDOT FOR COUNTER SYSTEMS ON COUNTY OWNED TRAILS

Transportation Cmte · 2026-07-14 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is considering a resolution to ratify a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the installation and maintenance of two counter systems on county-owned trails within the Florida Shared-Use Nonmotorized (SUN) Trail Network. The MOA, effective from September 24, 2025, to September 23, 2026, allows FDOT to install and maintain the hardware, with Miami-Dade County's role limited to approving installation locations and coordinating schedules. The resolution also seeks to delegate authority to the County Mayor or designee to enter into future similar agreements with FDOT for additional counter systems on county trails, provided there is no negative fiscal impact on the county. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item to the BCC with a favorable recommendation. FDOT will fund all costs associated with the counter systems, and Miami-Dade County will receive non-motorized traffic data at no cost.
