PTP AMENDMENT FOR REIMBURSEMENT TO DTPW

Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners is considering a resolution to approve an amendment to the FY 2026-30 Five-Year Implementation Plan Update of the People's Transportation Plan (PTP). The amendment retroactively adds the 'Purchase of 40-Foot Buses for I-95 Phase I and II project (CIP145)' to allow the use of PTP capital funds to reimburse the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) Operating Fund. This reimbursement of $3,896,702 was made to FDOT on January 12, 2026, for fifteen (15) 40-foot diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) buses. These buses were purchased with FDOT grant funds for I-95 Express Bus Service but were redeployed to other routes due to declining ridership and operator shortages during the COVID-19 pandemic, which violated FDOT's contractual requirements. The Transportation Committee forwarded the item to the Board with a favorable recommendation following a public hearing. The Board is expected to make a decision on September 1, 2026.
