Islamorada, Village of Islands, is considering applying for the FFY 2025 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from Florida Commerce. The Village is eligible for funds in neighborhood revitalization, commercial revitalization, housing rehabilitation, and economic development categories. Potential construction activities include paving roads and sidewalks, installing sewer and water lines, building a community center or park, improving a sewage treatment plant, and rehabilitating low-income homes. These activities must benefit low- and moderate-income persons, prevent or eliminate slum/blight, or meet a need of recent origin. A Citizen Advisory Task Force (CATF) meeting and a CDBG First Public Hearing are scheduled for April 23, 2026, at the Village Administrative Hall to discuss community needs and gather public comments. The Village must also plan to minimize displacement and assist displaced persons. Public participation is encouraged remotely via Zoom or in person.
