The Groveland Fire Department, in partnership with the Clermont Fire Department, is seeking funding to install Safe Haven Baby Boxes at fire stations in Groveland and Clermont. These climate-controlled boxes will be alarm-activated and provide a safe, anonymous option for mothers in crisis to surrender newborns. This project is currently under review for a 2025 Transformation Grant. The scope of work will involve the installation of these specialized boxes, which will require site preparation and potentially minor construction or utility connections at fire station locations. Community outreach and awareness campaigns are also planned. Contractors specializing in specialized equipment installation, site preparation, and potentially low-voltage electrical work could find opportunities. Suppliers of building materials and related services may also be involved.
