The City of DeLand's Historic Preservation Board is reviewing proposed changes to community design standards. These changes focus on how developments, especially those undergoing major modifications, interact with streetscapes and setback areas. The proposals include requirements for perimeter landscaping, the potential for paving within setback areas in the Core Overlay District to support outdoor dining and pedestrian activity, and the placement of street furniture like benches and bike racks. Additionally, standards for street trees, planting pits, and tree grates are being considered, along with rules about vehicular parking areas in relation to the street within the Core Overlay District. This review is currently under consideration by the Historic Preservation Board.
