A conceptual plan for school zone and crosswalk safety improvements is under review. This project proposes relocating sidewalk alignment, adjusting curb lines, and adding roadside swales. It also aims to reduce pedestrian crossing distance by approximately 25 to 30 feet and pedestrian-vehicle conflict time by about 10 seconds. The plan includes moving school zone markings farther south of an intersection and upgrading a crosswalk to FDOT mid-block standards with ADA improvements. This project is in the conceptual planning phase, with a conceptual plan recently accepted. The work would involve site clearing and grading, concrete and masonry for curb adjustments, potential underground utility work for swales, and final landscaping.
