Be First, Build Lasting Relationships

Ms. Teresa Eichner, Chief of Public Information, informed the Committee and the public that the Administration issued notification in February that City webpages and uploaded documents must be ADA compliant.

The City of Jacksonville is planning to make its City Council webpages ADA compliant. This project will require the Legislative Gateway system to be inaccessible to the public for an estimated four to six weeks. During this period, public access to agendas and minutes will continue, but other legislative documents will require records requests to be submitted to Ms. Teresa Eichner, Ms. Rhonda Hall Patrick, or the Legislative Services Division. The systems containing legislation prior to 2019 will not be consolidated with the current system. This project is currently under review. The work will involve digital updates and system adjustments to ensure ADA compliance. Businesses specializing in web development, accessibility compliance, and IT support may find opportunities related to this initiative. Early engagement could be beneficial as the project details are still being finalized.
