JEA is undertaking the Fulton Cut Transmission Line Clearance Project to raise existing power lines over the St. Johns River. The project involves replacing four miles of wire and installing three Pyramax towers on both the north and south banks. The power lines will be raised 50 feet, from 175 feet to 225 feet above high tide, to allow larger ships to pass following river dredging. The project is currently under review and is planned to be operational by the end of 2026, with demolition of old towers scheduled for January to March 2027. This project will involve site preparation, tower construction, wire pulling, and utility work. Contractors specializing in heavy construction, electrical transmission, civil engineering, and demolition may find opportunities.
