Jackson County is planning a new museum and memorial park project. The museum will be integrated into the county's tourism department for initial planning, promotion, and operations. The current Jackson County Visitor Center will be moved into the museum to combine visitor services. This project is currently under review and is in its early planning stages. The project will involve hiring new museum staff, including curators and visitor services personnel, and establishing a facilities team for site maintenance. A third-party concessionaire will be sought to manage a café within the museum, which will retain some original cafeteria tables as a memorial. The county will also explore creating a supporting nonprofit for fundraising and grant applications. This project will create opportunities for general contractors, construction trades, administrative support services, and food service providers. Early engagement is advised as plans develop.
