CREATE ADVISORY BOARD TO COUNTY COMMISSION ON SOLID WASTE
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · ordinance
Miami-Dade County has established a Solid Waste Advisory Board through Ordinance 260132. This board will advise the Board of County Commissioners on developing and implementing long-term, financially and environmentally sustainable solid waste management strategies. The board will consist of 15 voting members with expertise in areas such as finance, solid waste management, renewable energy, recycling, and environmental compliance. Members cannot be employees of vendors, suppliers, contractors, or service providers to the County. The board will operate for five years unless extended. The creation of this board follows a fire at the Resources Recovery Facility (RRF) in 2023, which has led to landfill capacity issues and challenges in meeting concurrency requirements for development permits. The RRF was originally sited on 100 acres.
