Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-524-26 (File Number 260904) on June 16, 2026, approving a State-Funded Grant Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for up to $3,548,180 in funding for construction-phase improvements along NW 12th Street from the Dolphin Station Park-and-Ride facility to NW 114th Avenue. The total project cost is $7,096,360, with the remaining 50% from Charter County Transportation Surtax funds. The project includes widening and resurfacing NW 12th Street for dedicated bus-only lanes, increasing capacity for existing left- and right-turn lanes, constructing new turn lanes, and improving Florida Turnpike exit ramps and the right-turn lane from Dolphin Mall at NW 114 Avenue. The project is anticipated to be completed by June 30, 2030. The grant agreement was introduced on May 18, 2026, and the resolution was adopted on June 16, 2026. The project is located in District 12, represented by Commissioner Juan Carlos 'JC' Bermudez, who is the Prime Sponsor. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to execute the agreement. The project will be monitored by Joan M. Fabian, P.E., of the Department of Transportation and Public Works. The FDOT grant award will be incorporated into the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Proposed Budget. The County will provide maintenance operations upon completion within the County's right-of-way.
